Thanks to funding support from a Clean Water Act section 319(h) grant from Hamilton County Storm Water District, Ohio EPA and U.S. EPA, a creek is being restored on the Summit Park site in conjunction with creation of stormwater collection ponds. These natural features will serve to mimic wetlands function in filtering stormwater before re-use on site. The ponds and creek will also reduce erosion and pollution into downstream receiving waters. In conjunction with the habitat restoration elements of this project, a series of workshops will be provided at Summit Park (including site tours) in the coming months. These workshops will inform homeowners about such topics as controlling and removing  invasive plants from their properties, constructing rain gardens, native plant selection, and creating habitats for butterflies.
