volunteer boards and commission gfxTo help serve residents of the City and to provide guidance to the Administration and Council, several boards and commissions have been established, as outlined in the City’s Charter and Code of Ordinances. All positions to these boards and commissions are volunteer and are made via appointment by City Council. Click below to learn more about each. 

Interested in Serving on a Volunteer Board/Commission?
Blue Ash citizens interested in serving on any of these boards or commissions should submit their request in writing via email to or via mail or in person to the Municipal & Safety Center, ATTN: City Manager’s Office, 4343 Cooper Road, Blue Ash, Ohio 45242-5699. Resumes would be helpful, and citizens should specify which board(s) they would be interested in serving. Please include info regarding your background, involvement in the community, previous experience, relevant education, as well as a mailing address and daytime phone number. Even if there is no vacancy on the board or commission, the City will keep your information on hand should a vacancy occur.

Planning Commission: responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on development plans and other items relating to planning, zoning, and platting of land. The Planning Commission may also periodically recommend to amend or modify the City's Land Use Plan, zoning ordinance, and other plans for comprehensive development of the City. Read more
Board of Site Arrangement/Board of Zoning Appeals (BSA/BZA): responsible for the review of applications for new buildings or buildings to be remodeled in the industrial or commercial zones. Though technically these are two separate boards, the membership is the same. The purpose of the boards is to ensure quality building and to offer suggestions for aesthetic improvements. Read more
Civil Service Commission: responsible for the administration of the City's civil service personnel system. The Commission sets up position tests, verifies test results, and handles a variety of personnel matters dealing with City employees. Read more
Recreation Board: advises and provides a communication channel between the Parks & Recreation Department and citizens of Blue Ash regarding the recreational needs of the community. Read more
Charter Revision Committee: advises the voters and Council as to any amendments or improvements that may be needed to keep the Charter suitable for the needs of the City of Blue Ash. Read more
Board of Tax Review: serves as an appeals board on Tax Commissioner's rulings. Read more
