Tax Rate
Effective January 1, 2007, Blue Ash’s earnings tax rate is 1.25%. For tax years prior to 2007, the rate is 1%. This tax applies to all who live, work, or operate a business in Blue Ash.

Tax Due Dates
Earnings tax should be paid on a quarterly basis with a Blue Ash Return and the first quarter estimates due April 15 of each year. Payment on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarter estimate declarations are due July 31, October 31, and January 31, respectively, of each year.

Any business or individual unable to complete their tax return by the deadline may request an extension by contacting the Tax Office in writing prior to the due date. Extension will not be granted for payment of tax due. Payment of any balance due must accompany a request for extension to file. Penalty and interest are assessed for late filing and payment. Please note that a Federal extension does not apply to Blue Ash taxes -- you must contact the Blue Ash Tax Office.

Who Should File?
All Blue Ash residents are required to file a tax return if they are not paying 1% (for tax years prior to 2007) and/or 1.25% (for 2007 and after) or greater tax to another municipality on their entire base compensation. The base compensation includes wages, commissions, tips, deferred compensation, etc. (Pensions, interest and dividends are not taxable.) Residents who have net profits from the operation of a business, profession or other enterprise or activity are required to file each year, even if a loss occurs. Residents also must file if they receive a refund from another city, or if they own rental property with a $3,000 or more gross annual rental that is not taxed by another municipality.

All businesses operating in Blue Ash must file an annual return.

Office Hours & Location
Blue Ash's tax office is located within the Municipal & Safety Center. <Get Directions> The Center is located on Cooper Road between Reed Hartman Highway and Kenwood Road, but closer to Reed Hartman. It is adjacent to (west of) the City’s Recreation Center. General office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM weekdays. All City offices are closed on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday (offices close at noon), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas. If any of these holidays fall on a Saturday, City offices are closed the Friday before; if any fall on Sunday, City offices are closed the following Monday.

The Tax office staff is eager to assist taxpayers with their Blue Ash tax questions or problems during normal operating hours. No appointment is necessary, and this is a free service.
